1. Start with your actual kWh consumption
Check actual consumption on your bills and, if available, hourly meter data. The bill total alone does not separate energy, fixed charges and taxes. Look at your evening and overnight usage.
2. Measure the available surplus
A battery needs available energy to recharge: compare generation and consumption across the seasons. A very large battery does not increase panel output and may be underused in winter.
3. Separate capacity from power
Example: a 1 kW load running for 5 hours requires 5 kWh before losses. Running several appliances at once also needs adequate inverter power and battery current.
4. Check voltage and communication
CEG batteries rated at 51.2 V nominal are intended for compatible low-voltage configurations. They cannot be connected to a battery input rated at hundreds of volts. The exact inverter model, voltage range, current limits and BMS compatibility are required.
5. Define your backup needs
Specify which loads should stay powered during a blackout and for how long. Runtime depends on usable energy, initial charge, consumption and losses; it is not a promise of unlimited grid independence.
On-grid, off-grid and All-in-One
On-grid describes connection to the grid. Off-grid describes a system or output supplying loads without grid export, according to its design. “Hybrid” refers to model-specific functions. “All-in-One” describes integration of an inverter and battery: it is not itself a certification or connection method.
Installation and local installers
After discussing your system, I can refer you to installers in several Italian cities. Tell me your town: availability, site visits and quotations are checked individually.
Work on building electrical installations covered by Italian Ministerial Decree 37/2008 must be entrusted to authorised installation businesses. Following the required checks, the installer issues the installation declaration of conformity and its attachments. Off-grid systems may also fall within this scope.
